Standardisation
I want to convert the proprietary data output from the system into standard XML so that it can be interfaced into a number of other visualisation and mapping systems. Achieved! The Bio Mapping data is now available in GPX and KMZ formats which can be viewed in almost all mapping applications. I particularly recommend Google Earth.
Workshops
I am currently organising a number of international workshops in order to gather more data and feedback and see how the projects fits into different cultural contexts. Achieved! I have carried out about 20 workshops all round the world and am now ready for longer term projects and research!
Exhibitions
The devices and software are now easy to use by other people and the project is ready for some long term exhibitions to collect a lot of data in a very concentrated space giving the potential of rich data analysis and beautiful maps :).
Community Projects
This I what I am focusing on currently. It would be fantastic to set up more of these. I think Bio Mapping could be a great tool to generate community discussion on local issues like regeneration, crime, pollution or noise.
Funding & Research
The ultimate aim of the project is to find academic or commercial research partners to explore the potential of this project. I would be interested in some initial statistical analysis of all the data I have collected so far. Then it would be great to set up a large scale trial where people can borrow a device for a period of weeks. What kind of scenarios can we develop that envisage this tool as part of people's daily lives?
